Save Africa AIDS Project Summary

True facts of the situation now

In the Southern part of Africa, 33% of people are HIV/AIDS infected.
More than 14 million children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
Most people remain untested for HIV/AIDS and do not know if they have AIDS.

A summary of what is being presently done in Southern Africa

Major Drug Companies are giving large discounts on HIV/AIDS related pharmaceuticals, to countries that cannot afford commercial prices. (Cost of the drugs is $1000 to $2000 per patient per year) The economies of the Southern African continent are in such bad shape, that they can hardly afford to pay the lower discounted rates, for the millions who are HIV/AIDS infected and that is understandable.

South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique are the most chronically effected by HIV/AIDS. They are using all forms of the media to inform and educate people on HIV/AIDS prevention, HIV/AIDS testing and treatment. Many people in the rural areas are still slipping throught the cracks.

The reason why many people remain uninformed and uneducated about AIDS.

Great majorities of people live in rural, outlying areas. They do not have electricity; they do not have television; they do not have telephones. Communicating with them is extremely difficult. Some areas can only be reached by foot.
About 40% of the people above the age of 25 are illiterate and cannot be educated or warned with printed literature and posters.

How our Africa AIDS Program overcomes these problems

We do this in three ways:

1. All our activities are directed from our Action Center.

2. We coordinate our own activities, eliminating confusion, red tape and delay.

3. Our infrastructure and coordinators are in place for action.

4. Prevention is much more cost-effective than treatment and can save thousands of people from the pain and misery of this dealy disease.

Our plan of action

We will inform and educate those who have not heard of HIV/AIDS by:

1. Giving out small digital players in Villages, Schools, Churches, other meeting places and remote areas. These play a 3-5 minute message and they are played from person to person, over and over again. Each digital player is effective, warning thousands of people of HIV/AIDS, promoting HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.

2. Our representatives reach and penetrate all areas with vehicles, boats, bicycles and on foot to deliver our digital players and literature.

3. We also set up huge tents for teaching large crowds of people, counteracting HIV/AIDS myths and presenting video and other forms of education.

4. We motivate all HIV/AIDS victims to obtain medical treatment and direct them to the right places for treatment.

Since 1995 there have been several significant milestones reached in combating HIV/AIDS.
Several organizations with which we have contact, have been doing a memorable task in this regard, such as:

AIDS Clinical Trials Infection Service (ACTIS)
AIDS Treatment Information Service (ATIS)
CDC National Prevention Information Network
Center for Disease Control (CDC)
National Institute of Health (NIH)
National AIDS Hotline (I -800-342-AIDS)
